GBF over the years been a recipient of several awards for superior financial performance, superior customer service delivery, excellent share performance, management efficiency etc. Some of these are:
2010 - Member, Commonwealth of Nations Initiative
2010 - Key feature in the October 2010 edition of BBC African Business Report
2010 - Winner of 2010 African Star Excellence Award in Business Development
2005- Pioneers for the deployment of ICT in rural Nigeria facilitating the first ever Telecommunications Summit in Nigeria.
2005 - Our Rural Telephone Project (RTP) in 2005 at the 3rd GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain organized by the GSM Association won an Award in the category of Best Use of Mobile Phone in the Community. This was an award for the deployment of mobile technology by GBF to facilitate development of agriculture, microenterprise and rural banking across Nigeria.
Instituted the first ever Microfinance Entrepreneurship Award with the Central Bank of Nigeria and Citibank. This annual award is aimed at recognizing the contributions and impact of local entrepreneurs and the institutions that support them. Running the award for the last 7 years.
2008 - National Daily Award 2008 Special Recognition Award presented to GBF for “Outstanding impact on Rural Nigeria.”
2009 - National Daily Hero Award 2009 presented to the President/Founder GBF as the “Most Distinguished Entrepreneur” of the year for her contribution to poverty eradication through economic empowerment.
2005 - Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme 2005. Corporate Award to GBF in recognition of unflinching resolve to assist the poor in our societies and Nigeria at large.
2005 - Pyramid Research: Case study on the Rural Telephone Project (RTP).
