The Nehemiah Project Kaduna: ‘I am Nigeria’ is a collaboration of the Nehemiah Youth Empowerment Initiative (NYEI) and Growing Business Foundation (GBF).
The project is aimed at discovering the innate talents embedded within the youths and help release them and discover the journey to attaining their full potential. I am Nigeria project is an Agricultural initiative designed to encourage youth engagement in Agricultural value, thus breeding the next generation of Nigeria’s Agro-businesses.
The project kicked off with a pilot in Gujeni District of Kargarko Local Government Area, Kaduna. Over 280 youths within the ages of 18-28 were screened; from which 43 of 58 selected candidates underwent training at a farm house. The theoretical and practical training sessions covered all aspects of Agricultural production and value chain.
The best 25 candidates from the trained 43 were selected and are currently serving as Agro Ambassadors in the locality. Furthermore, trained candidates will be provided with the necessary requirement (farmland, inputs and technical support) in the next farming session in an incubator-like model for the next 3 years.
In addition, 13 candidates from a selected 19 have secured a one year scholarship program at the Leventis Foundation Agricultural School, DogonDawa, Kaduna State. The project is expected to be scaled up and replicated in other parts of the Country upon lessons from the pilot project.
