In the month of June 2020 amidst COVID-19 pandemic Growing Businesses Foundation partnered with Unilever, Wecyclers, Ovie Brume Foundation, Elinex, Powerworx and Zubnol on the 26th of June, 2020 to distribute safety mask and to pilot trusted credible messages on personal hygiene and beneficial use of masks, whilst abiding strictly to health guidelines in Lagos Island local Government area of Lagos State.
1000 (one thousand) people were reached in Lagos Island on the prevention of COVID 19 virus and waste management for a healthy living. We gave out items to aid prevention and raise awareness on waste management.
Some preventive materials (facemask, soap and sanitizers) were distributed, whilst GBF team were sensitizing the residents of Lagos Island on the myths and facts about COVID-19 pandemic and how they could help reduce the spread of the virus in their homes and offices.
Also, they were encouraged to be a part of flattening COVID-19 curve in their community. All nylon waste generated during the project were sorted and sent for Recycling.
